We have unlimited kilometres with all our vehicles but travel is restricted to the North Island only. No South Island travel is permitted in our cars.
No, we don’t allow our cars on the interisland ferry. Sorry about this.
Mint operates on a strict non-smoking policy in all of our vehicles. We will enforce a special cleaning charge of up to $75 to the renter if a returned vehicle requires special treatment to remove any evidence of smoking. Please lets me be mindful of not smoking in the cars.
The hirer of the vehicle is solely responsible for any traffic offence fines incurred during their rental period. If the fine comes to Mint Rentals we will charge an administration fee of between $20 plus the cost of fine to your card on file.
No we don’t. You would need to organise a driver yourself.
Yes, at mint we can only rent cars to driver with full license and age over 20years.
To make sure your rental pick-up is fast and you can be on the load quicker, we recommended you to e sign your rental agreement and check all your details in your convenient time and ask any question if you’re not sure of anything so we can get you out and about faster. For After hours pickup, esign is mandatory. We will inspect the vehicle and leave a copy in the car for you to check and confirm on your collection. If you’re planning on bringing your furry family member along for the ride, We allow pets to be transported in our vehicles in a cage only. If the pet is not secured in a cage, you are subject to a $150 cleaning fee on return.

When you come to collect your hire car at our Mint Auckland Airport branch, you’ll need a valid driver’s licence and a credit or debit card for security. A credit card is mandatory if you have selected our Standard or Partial insurance option that requires a bond deposit.

It's good to have an insurance cover in place for your rental car, in this scenario if there was an accident and damages to rental vehicle, then we will have to charge you our standard excess of $2000 , you would be able to claim this back off your insurance based on your policy. If you want to go with your own insurance, we will hold a bond of $350 on you card and you’ll be on our standard insurance plan then.
Mint provides all customers an hour grace period from the time the vehicle was due to be dropped off as shown in your rental agreement. Any delays must be communicate in writing to our team at support@mintrentals.co.nz at least 24hours prior to drop off date and time or via a phone call.
Yes, we require a bank pre-authorisation of up to $350 from the hirer’s credit or debit card. This money is only temporarily held and not deducted from your bank. Bonds are released within 10 workings days of your hire return.

If the cancellation is received 3 days before the pickup date no Cancellation Fee is applicable. Mint Rentals can charge 50% of the rental fee in the event that cancellation is received less than 3 days before the pickup (the Cancellation Fee). If the Hirer cancels during the term of hire, no refund will be provided for the unused portion of the term.

Yes. You can pick up and drop off car 24 hours a day. Outside of our regular office hours, we use a partner company to provide this service. They can pick you up and drop you off at the airport. This cost an additional $50 each way.
Our branch hours at the Auckland Airport branch are: 8am - 5pm Monday to Sunday. If you need to pick up or drop off your vehicle outside these hours, there is an after-hours service which will allow you to do so! Once you’ve confirmed your booking, we’ll email you instructions on how to pick up and drop off your car outside of our branch hours. Its very straight forward. You can ring us anytime to speak to a Mint Auckland car rental team member.

Yes, you can and you would need to book car ferry via Sealink’s website or you can get a rental car from our sister company Waiheke car rental at Matiatia Wharf (just tell them you’re a customer of Mint Car Rentals, you’ll receive 10% off any advertised rates). They
have the cheapest prices and are a local waiheke company. Waiheke island is a short ferry ride from Auckland’s downtown.
No. Travel in our cars is restricted to the North Island only. No South Island travel is permitted in our cars. Customers will be in breach of contract if travel to the South Island occurs.
For most people flying into Auckland Airport, our shuttle van is the easiest way to get to and from our Auckland airport branch whether you are picking up or dropping off your rental car. It’s a short 5-7 minute drive dependent on traffic from the branch to either the domestic or international terminals.

Our Cars are kept maintained & serviced at all times and checked before each hire, but if you encounter a breakdown our 24-hour roadside assistance will be able to help. Please contact the Automobile Association (AA) on 0800 734 543 or *222, you will need to quote the vehicle registration number. Please note that this policy covers all call out for mechanical faults including transmission. electrical and engine related issues for free, but for all non-mechanical issues like flat battery, flat tyre, fuel run out then there is a call out fees payable to AA for their service. First of all, please mask sure you and all passenger travelling with you are safe, please call 111 from your phone if you need urgent assistance from the police or ambulance. With regards to your rental car, we advise you not to admit liability in any circumstance if you’re not sure please call us on freephone 0800 842424 or +64 9 930 8271 . If you are unsure, always obtain a police report that will help our insurance company to assess who was at fault. All accidents must be reported to Mint car rental staff as soon you can safely in the situation. If you’re involved in an accident with third party , please request for third party details such as , full name, address, email, and driver license number of the third party vehicle driver. We can’t guarantee that we’d be able to replace the vehicle if you are liable for the accident.
Firstly, please make sure everyone around you is safe. Please record details of what happen and third-party details if applicable and email them to us at support@mintrentals.co.nz using car registration number in Subject line. A team member will be in touch to assist further. If you’re more than 5kms from our base we cannot guarantee a replacement rental vehicle, you would need to make your own way to our rental yard or your accommodation. Please feel to call us if you’re not sure of anything. We will do our best to help you at the time.
No to worry at all as, before a vehicle is rented a series of photos is taken by Mint Auckland Car Rental team to represent the current condition of your vehicle during our exit process. We encourage you to perform your own inspection and takes photos before starting your journey to have absolute peace of mind during and after you hire is completed.
If you detect any damage/marks/scratches to the vehicle that is not marked on the Vehicle condition report provided, you can update this on the report before leaving our yard. If you’re collecting the vehicle after hours, you can send these photos on your collection via an email to support@mintrentals.co.nz or whatsapp images to us on 0064284154339 so we can update the condition report.
No, unfortunately there will be no refunds for early returns sorry, but please do let us know in advance so we can have your shuttle ride to the airport drop off organised, so you don’t have to wait.
We understand and will allow 1 hours grace on the return time, but any delays longer than hour will charged at a full day rate.
No worries, you have 5 days after our travel to pay for the toll, you can simply login to www.tollroad.govt.nz. And enter the vehicle registration number. Unfortunately, if we receive the notice from NZTA and have to pay then, there will be a admin fees of $25 charged on top.
We can have the car refilled on your behalf, but we will charge your card for the fuel refilled plus a service fees of $20 for having to send a staff member to do it on your behalf.
No, you don’t have to, we will clean the car on return as part of our exit process. But we do request your take all your belongings and any excess or rubbish with you or dispose it safely before returning.
